“I asked Betty to take us on a private tour of various locations visited by my artist father, Wep, a war correspondent for The Australian Women’s Weekly, who spent three months in Darwin, July to September 1943.

We hit it off straight away. Betty was most interested in my father’s work and researched sites prior to our tour as well as organising a visit to Coomalie airfield on private property where we were made most welcome by the owners and had a magnificent morning tea together and learned even more about the local history.

We then went on to Adelaide River War Cemetery to chase down more pictures. Betty was happy to accommodate our requests and is a wealth of knowledge concerning the area’s WW2 history.

She showed us other sites were not aware of that may well be relevant to some of Wep’s sketches. In addition, Betty introduced us to another WW2 expert for further research in retracing my father’s footsteps. The experience has given us a thirst for more. Can highly recommend Betty for a truly accommodating and personalised experience.”

“Incredible half-day tour. Betty our guide was wonderful and her in-depth knowledge of Darwin and the events leading up to and during the bombing was encyclopaedic! The boat trip enabled me to better appreciate the events from a maritime perspective.

“We spent a lovely day in Darwin with Betty. She had a knowledge of Darwin’s history especially during the second world war. She was also knowledgeable about more recent history; I did enjoy her commentary in the High Court building.

We had been in touch before and had discussed the interests of the group so she could tailor the tour to meet as many of our interests as we could fit in the time available. The museum/art gallery was a highlight for me and some of the party really enjoyed the Aviation Museum.

Betty was also very helpful with advice about restaurants, bookshops and general shopping, particularly looking at aboriginal art.
We had a great day. She was informative, interesting and obviously passionate about her subject. A great day. “

“We spent a wonderful day with Betty, touring many interesting sites around Darwin. She really went out of her way to be helpful. Her knowledge of all things Darwin was great, and her stories were told with a great sense of humour.  I would definitely recommend Betty to anyone wanting a private tour of Darwin.  Thankyou Betty.”
